Learning Through Pictures

So I was looking through my pics of iPhoto and I thought I would do a blog about some of my favorite photos or photos that mean something to me!

My 19th birthday was one of the best ones and one of the worst ones. I got to a new camera, which to this day has been one of the best present I've ever gotten! And the picture to the top left corner was the first picture I took with it :) It was such an unbelievable and special birthday, but I usually share this birthday with my grandpa and this past summer was my first birthday without him.

For my 19th, I had a "Breakfast At Tiffany's" themed brunch and I absolutely loved it!
I  love having themed birthday parties, and so far, this has been my absolute favorite!! <3

This past summer I went to LA, and OH MY GOD! It was an absolute dream!
I fell in love with the city, and I am planning on moving there in the near future! There are so many things to do there, and it's just a place that never stops moving, I just love that.

We also went on the Warner Brothers tour, and it was AMAZING!!! I am a HUGE Friends fan, so the fact that I got to take a picture outside the set, and I got to first of all, just be in Central Perk, let alone touch that couch and take a picture....I died.

While being there, I obviously, went to Disneyland. Now let me tell you a little something about my family...WE LOVE DISNEY, we have literally being going to DisneyWorld every year since 2006! :O So we just had to go, and plus this was out first time going to Disneyland!!

While being there we also went to San Diego to visit family. Also, another city that's just beautiful. It's completely different than LA, the weather is so nice, there's so many beaches around, and everything about it is just amazing! Although, I did get dizzy when we drove around because everything's so far away and you go up and down hills a lot haha

I love going to the beach, and now that I got a fancy camera I try to take as many pictures as I can, and I try to capture the beauty of nature.

Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday, so here are some pics of some Christmas' of the past few years that I like. The one of the top left corner was when I got my first car 3 years ago...yes I am crying, I'm a cry baby haha

My senior year of highschool, 12th grade, was one of the best ones I've had. It was such an unbelievable year,  and I became and remained friends with some people that impacted my life. I don't think they know how much meeting them meant to me.

These are my sisters. These are the people that I can be my complete self with, and I can just honestly say can't live without them. They have been there at the best times of my life and at the worse, they have picked me up when I needed to be picked up, and they have been complete fools with me as well... haha we're not really that normal...

This picture was taken at the candle light of my friend that passed at the place of the accident the day after. We were all standing there mourning the unexplainable and being there for each other, I am so glad that someone took a picture of this, because it is one of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen.

These are my pets, Coco and Domino. Coco is the Yorkie and she's a spoiled brat haha but she's just the sweetest and Domino is the Dalmatian, he sadly passed away in December, he was almost 16 years old, which for Dalmatians is beyond the average!

I can honestly say that these two guys are the best people ever!! They are my absolute role models, and I am beyond lucky to be able to call them my grandparents, no matter what happens <3

These are just some random pics of my family, haha the one on the left corner was my sister, my cousin and I kayaking at the lake for the first time...hahah, the one next to it is my family and I with our camping tshirts for the camping trip we did in honor of my grandpa. The one next to it is my sister and I at Wurstfest! NOW I am really proud of the picture on the bottom left corner, I DID THAT! I made a heart shaped braid on my cousins' hair hehe well I know it isn't perfect but hey I tried hehe

Well thank you for reading, and hopefully you learned something new about me!

Hope you enjoyed and come back for more :)

Sunday's Rolercoaster

Excuse my weirdness in this pic..I'm running on 4 hours of sleep...

Hey guys,
First off I would like to say....HAPPY SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!
Well, it's not Sunday anymore, but it was when I started writing this post, but then I fell asleep haha

So as we all know today was the Super Bowl, exciting stuff right?
The teams that played were the Baltimore Ravens vs. the San Francisco 49ers, which to be quite honest wasn't of preference of either team, but I guess if I had to choose I would've liked the 49ers to win but that wasn't the case. So CONGRATS RAVENS, you were the Super Bowl Champs of 2013!
But...let's be honest here...mostly everyone who reads this won't be that interested in this now will we?
Well I wanna point out a few highlights that I had in my super bowl 2013 shindig,

Beyonce.Is.A.Goddess. Legitimately, she is not human, she is just a perfect being.
Her performance at half time was just breath taking, here's a video of it (it's the best one I could find where they show her whole performance).

Like HELLO!!! who isn't in love with her after that?
AND A BIG PLUS.....Destiny's Child reunion? It just made me so happy!
I would die to go to one of her concerts, she is an amazing entertainer and is just full of incredible talent.
She's a badass.

Ummm....what was up with that 45 minute power outage after Beyonce's performance? Like what?
Shouldn't they be prepared for that kind of stuff?
Each Super Bowl performance, every year, takes up so much energy. Shall we remember when the Black Eyed Peas performed, their show was pretty much based on cool lights and effects, obviously a half time performace is going to take so much energy, so you would think that they would be a little more prepared...apparently not. Ugh, and then the illuminati accusations began...if you believe in that then I'm sorry if what I'm about to say offends you in anyway, each of us are entitled to our own opinions and I respect yours but this is mine. THAT IS SO STUPID! People obsess about this stuff and start saying that every artist or actor or overall celebrity that is extremely popular must be in the illuminati...not like they're extremely talented or just really annoys me (but enough of my rant), where I was going with this is that since it was after Beyonce's performance everyone just went off about how it was her or whatever, like check these tweets out;

She's not doing the illuminati sign, thats the Roc Republic sign. Roc Republic is an entertaining company that works with artists, music producers, song writers, etc. Jay-Z, Kayne, and a lot more are involved with Roc Republic and they all do that get outta here!
ANYWAYS, the lights were off for like 45 mins and it just really backed the game up...not fun when you wanna go home because you're exhausted and still need to do loads of homework :( but oh well...

Well...yeah, they won...that's it...haha

4.) (A Sadder Highlight) POOR COCO

This is actually a sad story, so brace yourselves.
So, when we got home we took my little pup outside to do her business, well yeah whatever we come inside blablabla and all of a sudden we see her limping and then blood stains on the floor. OBVIOUSLY we freaked!! We took a closer look and realized that one of her nails came off D:
I'm guessing it got stuck on something and it just came off, but it was so sad!
Here's a pic of the injured baby!

We made her a little cast for her foot so she wouldn't be hurting it anymore haha very homemade!
We took her to the vet today and they just told us to treat it like any other injury, and to keep her little foot clean, and to keep an eye on her and in about a week she'll be better.
It's just so sad to see her down :(
It breaks my heart, so hopefully she'll get better and will be back to her normal self again!

Well that was my semi-eventful Sunday, what was yours like?

Thank you for reading, and come back for more :)

Andrea R.

If any of you were interested on if I did my homework or not, no I did not, I literally got home started writing this post and fell asleep in the process haha but #YOLO...jk school comes first, so I gotta organize my time better because I really wanted to post this last night but I couldn't :(

Music For Your Ears - 2

Hey guys,
So I thought I would share with you guys once again some of the songs that have been stuck in my head recently :)

Sweet Nothing - Florence Welch ft. Calvin Harris
I just love Florence and Calvin Harris and when I head this song and it was just an instantly my jam!

Between The Raindrops - Lifehouse ft. Natasha Bedingfield
I have legitimately been listening to this song every single day for the past week, it just gets to me for some reason, it's so beautiful. I am a huge fan of them both.

Thrift Shop - Pentatonix (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Cover)
So everyone has been obsessed with this song recently, including myself, and I thought this cover was really cool and original and accapella which makes it so much more unique.

Crystal Clear - Opus Orange
This is actually not a new song, at all, but when I was thinking of songs to put on this post I had to put this one. It's such a good, chill, different song. It's different from a lot of music I hear nowadays, it just puts me in a good mood!

Call Your Girlfriend - Lennon & Maisy Stella (Robyn Cover)
Yes, another cover, but no these girls are AMAZING. They are the definition of talent, watch all of their videos, it's just unreal the amount of talent these girls have at such a young age.

Hold On - Alabama Shakes
Her voice is unreal. This is an amazing band, and their sound is just so original! They have become one of my favorite bands.

Bleeding Out - The Lone Bellow
I actually found this because it was free on iTunes and it's one of those songs that you can just listen to it whenever and it kinda puts you in this mellow, reflecting about your life, inspirational kind of know?

Bright Lights - Gary Clark Jr.
All I can say is that his music is real, it's kind of got that older jazzy tune along with more modern instruments. This is just the perfect to either jam out too, or just be chilling in your room and just be at peace. I absolutely love it.

SO there you have it, some of my favorite songs of the week!
What are some of YOUR favorite songs? :)

Hope you enjoy them, and come back for more :)

"Can My Lipstick Give Me Cancer?"

Hello everyone!

Okay so from reading the title I'm sure you're a little confused, but once I start explaining you'll get the jist of it. So I was getting ready yesterday for school when my mom came into my room and gave me some pretty crazy news... Apparently there are a lot of lipsticks out there that contain lead, pretty much most of them do. Now you might be thinking "so what?" right? Well lead is a chemical that causes cancer, affect your Nervous System, it can damage your brain and kidneys, and can ultimately cause death, so therefore if it's in your lipstick that's probably not a good sign.
Lead is used on lipsticks so the lipstick will stay longer, so watch out for those lipsticks that are supposed to last for a longer period of time!

Now before we all go crazy and stop using lipsticks I must tell you that I did my research on this before writing about it, and from what I read, this is an issue thats has been going on for a while. Apparently the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics tested 33 popular brand lipsticks for lead content, and 61% had lead ranging on different levels. They used your normal every day brands, along with high end brands and most of them contained it. Later on the FDA (Food And Drug Association) tested the lipsticks and all of the 20 lipsticks they tested had at least some lead in them. They said that the level of lead in them was expected and harmless.

So are we safe or should we be worried? Well in my opinion you can never be too safe, and by this is mean that you should from now on take second look at the lipsticks you buy. Check their ingredients and if they have a lot of lead or if it's one of the main ingredients I would probably recommend looking for a better alternative. Now if they normal or small amounts of lead in them they're probably not very harmful or might not be at all, as long as you don't it...(lol) so you can continue to use it, I mean I'll probably keep using mine. If I've scared you silly and now you never wanna use lipsticks again I first must apologize, but I also have good news for you! You can also buy lead-free lipsticks such as these (click here to look at the lead-free lipsticks). As for the lipsticks you already own, there is a way to test them.
All you do is:
  • Apply some lipstick on your hand.
  • Use a 24k-14k Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.
  • If the lipstick color changes to black, then you know the lipstick contains some lead.
I just wanted to share with you guys this interesting information I stumbled upon today. I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope it didn't scare you too much!
Just be careful next time you buy a lipstick ladies!

Thank you for reading, and come back for more :)

My Guilty Pleasure - Vinyl Record Player

Hello everyone!

So retro stuff and vintage stuff have always interested me, like seriously if I could choose to live in any time period it would probably be the 60's or 80's. I just find that eras so fascinating and also so incredibly creative, and sooo free!
I recently wanted to re-decorate my room, and I wanted to make it into a classy, vintage-y, retro style kinda thing. So I have been looking for small shops and antique stores in surrounding cities and I found a couple of stuff, but I was specifically looking for a vinyl record player for my room. I couldn't find it anywhere! I mean I saw it at Urban Outfitters, but....I find Urban a little too pricey on the electronics. I looked online and most of them were over $200. I mean I saw cheaper ones but they were either used and/or damaged, or they were just little simple boring ones, which theres nothing wrong with that but I wanted a vintage looking one. I had seriously just given up on it.
At the beginning of December my parents had told my sister and I that they wanted to get us a present because they saw how much we busted our little bootys this past semester at University (they were feeling giving, I mean it was December, everyone was feeling giving!), and we left it at that.
About a week later my mom and I were at Bed Bath & Beyond, just cruising the store looking through the isles when suddenly I see it. No joke, it was the most amazing vinyl record player, it was shinning like a star on a dark winter night. SO obviously I had to get it. It was a tad over what they were planning to spend on the little surprise but I begged and begged AND BEGGED! I mean I had just been looking for it for years!! So after many hours of convincing they got it for me!!!!!

This record player is one of the best one's I've ever seen! It was just love at first sight! lol But seriously, it is so beautiful and so elegant. It has wonderful features that not many of the have. Such as, vinyl record player (obviously) for 7, 10 and 12 in. records at the top, so if you can play any kind of vinyl there is! It also has a CD player slot on the front, so you can still jam out to your CD jammms. It has a cassette player slot on the side, so if you wanna keep the (semi) retro theme and slide in some of your old cassettes that you happen to find you still can. It also has an Aux-in cable so you can connect it to your iPhone or iPod or any MP3!! How awesome is that! It has AM/FM radio, and that's at the front as well and it looks soooo cool!!! and it also has the feature that if you want to record your vinyls into a CD or a cassette you very easily can!

The speakers are AMAZING! They are huge for starters, they are located on the front on both sides. The sound just comes out so clean, especially with he vinyls. You can turn it up real loud, and the quality of the sound doesn't change. It also comes with a remote control, so if you're either laying down or getting ready and you really don't feel like listening to that certain song you can just do the lazy thing that we all wanna do and change it without having to move :)
So you get the old, the not so old, and the new all in one machine! That's a awesome deal to me!
I have had it for about 2 months now and I am so incredibly happy with it! I'm always showing it off...hehe. It really made my room so complete, it kinda adds character to it. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!

So I just wanted to share with you guys my little guilty pleasure, what is yours? :)
